A Leatherjacket grub found in a lawn in Hale Barns.
These ugly little chaps can completely destroy a lawn by eating their way through the grass roots.
A handful of Chafer grubs collected from my tiny lawn in Chorlton.
This creepy collection was taken from a lawn I grew in trough only 2ft x 1ft wide … I was amazed how many I found in such an unlikely place!
Unchecked, these would sit in the roots of your lawn for up to four years, eating their way through your grass!
A close up picture of a Polytrichum moss specimen found on a lawn in Chelford today. Notice the sporophyte (the long growth out of the top) which means that this particular moss plant will soon release it’s spores and die away. The time to apply an effective moss control is running out!
